Bakersfield RV Park
Yesterday I left San Diego, and drove to Bakersfield. Why? because it was there. Stayed one night at the Bakersfield RV Park. Which is nothing to speak about. Though at $22 is OK. The park is across from the Shafter airport. So I caught a picture of an Ultralight on a landing approach. So, what about the bee hives? While there, talked to a bee keeper from N Dakota. He said that last year our San Joaquin Valley employed 1.8 M bee hives. This bee keeper was camping, waiting for 8 truck loads of his bee hives to arrive. They are setting up for the almond season. Bee keepers come from all over the country. Why?
Did a little research, some bee keepers can have 3000 bee hives, and charge $140 and more per hive, per month. Due the math, lots of $$ to be made.
Today, am camping out at Casa De Fruta on Hwy 152 (Pacheco Pass). It is practically empty (300 sites). I was told not unusual during the week days. However, the weekends can be full. Lots of RV clubs come out in the weekends since (was full last weekend) they have the facilities for handling large group activities, like BBQs, and a large hall and a decent 24/7 restaurant. And, they don’t call it Casa De Fruta for nothing, lots of fruit and nuts delights at the fruit stand. http://www.casadefruta.com/

One more note, regarding the motorcycle riding license for three-wheeled motorcycles. Did some research, and read lots of the CVC. The CVC is a very convoluted written set of laws. Definitely defines my 3 wheel scooter as a motorcycle, but when it comes to driver license requirements, specifically calls out the motorcycle license applying to 2 wheeled vehicles; therefore by deduction 3 wheeled motorcycles falls under a regular class C license. Then, I asked the CHP, and after a couple of hours, they confirmed that a california motorcycle license is not required for 3 wheeled motorcycles, just the regular class C license. I expect that to be changed someday.
