Vickie’s Mothers Day Adventure Walk
Vickie and Rouel
Cindy and ...
I am still in Mountain View, Calif. till sometime next week.
Yesterday was Mothers Day. Hope all mothers had a great day. I know Vickie did. Her spouse gave her an "Adventure Walk" day, while he (Scott) tool baby Alice for a hike and quality time.
Vickie has always liked Adventure Walks, that is, a long point to point hike. We did one a few years back, 20 something miles with some adventurous (almost trails) hiking thru bushes overlooking Palo Alto. Am sure the only other creatures on those trails had been deer and the like, and they don't necessarily take the easiest paths.
Yesterday, we did only 15 miles with 2100 feet of climbing. It was Vickie, Cindy and me in this adventure. At about mile 12.5, I lost the fun factor with pain in my knees and ankles. Guess am not as tough as I used to be, and we called Scott for a pick-up since we were down in the city by then. Today, have some muscle soreness, but it is my knee and ankle joints that took a beating. Advancing in age can be mean. Will I stop? Not likely, I will hike and bike even if I have to use a walker and a tricycle. A Rouel-ism: Live life with vigour, it only hurts when you stop having fun.
That is just me !!
It is amazing what can happen in a lifetime. I just became a “Great” Granduncle.
