Boomstown RV Resort ?

Thursday, June 26, 2008

I am in Boomstown USA RV Resort in south east Texas, not far from the border to Louisiana. Left San Antonio, drove thru Houston, rushed 285 miles to Boomstown RV resort. From their website, and the photo above, it looks like a great place, was planning on hanging out for a couple days. Not. I rank it as a dive, though the lake is kind of nice. Perhaps am spoiled and this is a resort, for this area. It is 100 yards from the freeway, noisy, lost of big trucks go by. The RV sites in the photo above are probably the better sites, but I could not get a site there. The resort was nearly full, there were only two spaces left when I arrived at 1:00 pm. The infrastructure is pretty weathered, it rains allot, am told almost every afternoon in the summer. There were kids (very young teenagers) running the registration and saw no maintenance personnel working around the “resort”. That is very unusual for a resort, at least the ones I have been to in the west. The RV sites around me have flooded after the rain today. My site was a little higher so no flooding for me.

Tomorrow will arrive in New Orleans, Louisiana.
