In Arizona, am a California wimp

Homes near Marywayne’s house, here in Tucson are built into the wild landscape. Some of these homes are 25 yrs old, and as you can see, the trees don’t grow tall for shade. They make houses outside walls thick. Inside temps are a nice 73 F = 23 C with efficient air conditioning. Talked with a neighbor, she said a couple of weeks ago, in the early evening, a “ bobcat” walked on the back wall of her house, as she watch from the inside and it watch her unconcerned. And Coyotes frequently cross her porch. You don’t let your pets out in the back yard, for they become ...  For any city, specially in the desert,  to prosper or sustain a population, it must have water resources. See here.

About 30 miles south of Tucson are the Colossal Caves. I guess it just one large cave. Did a small tour, about 1/2 mile in the cave. Though the cave is much bigger, there are longer, walking and crawling in small tunnels for at least a couple miles. Click here.

This is PJ, the son of my High School buddy, Bob Gomes. His son lives here in Tucson, and going to college.

Will be leaving Tucson in the morning, Sat. Heading all the way through New Mexico to Las Cruces, just west of the Texas Border, about 50 miles north of El Paso, TX.

From the last Blog, you may get the idea that Lake Pleasant is at/near Tucson. No, No, my bad, it is about 30 miles north east of Phoenix. Must have been the heat short circuiting my main brain cell, I skipped a paragraph about Phoenix. You may remember that I though Palm Spring was hot, well, from the frying pan into the oven, not as hot as Phoenix. So being at the RV resort by the Lake was nice, but still hot, 113 F = 45 C. However, yesterday the temp in Palm Spring went to 116 F = 47 C.

OK, am glad I don’t have to deal with all that heat here in Tucson, it is a cool 103 F = 45. Am hanging out with my friend Marywayne.  Have taken the motorcycle out cruising here in Tucson, and have been impressed by tough cyclist. In Arizona, am a California wimp. 103 F at noon, cyclist biking, not just one or two, saw maybe twenty or so per day. I was thinking/inspired to do a ride, but it has been 90 F = 32 C at 7:30 am. Yap, I wimped out.

Had the pleasure to meet PJ, my high school buddy’s son. We chatted and went to lunch, mexican food. PJ is cool, the family resemblance is there, he even talks like his dad. He is another one of those that “like’s” it hot. He works full time, goes to college full time. Was in the US Army a few years, he is doing good. PJ, Remember my advice/recommendations.
