Bad Day on The Atlantic Beach ...

Friday, August 1, 2008

Swimming in the Pacific, In the gulf and now in the Atlantic. The Pacific is very cold, and the sand is typically dark. San Diego CA has the nicest beach in the west (in my opinion); however, Venice Beach, Santa Monica beach and Huntington beach near Los Angeles are pretty good but the water is very cold. So is Santa Cruz Just west of San Jose. The Florida Gulf beaches are warm in and out of the water, and the sand is white. In the Atlantic around Florida, beaches are also warm, the sand not quite white. Florida beaches are manicured almost on a daily basis, always clean and the warm water so inviting.

Warm water beaches appear to have lots of life. Have not yet seen turtles coming out to lay eggs at night. Anyone cut disturbing them or their egg nest can/will get severe penalties.

This creature was about 3 yards from the crab. I think the crab was about to become breakfast.

Have left south Florida, back in the Tampa area, at bro Frans,  for a day or so, then sneaked out to the Atlantic (about 3 hrs away) for a few days. In the internet checked out two locations: One, an RV resort in St Augustine, this place looked wonderful, and features many amenities. The other, at Ormond Beach, just north of Daytona, not a resort. At the last minute while driving by, chose the not a resort. The RV Park, not a resort, is not fancy, kind of simple/bare. But it is 30 yards from the beach. That is a high value criteria in my RV camping choice. The resort was about a 300 yard walk to the beach, and closer to the intra-coastal which is great for personal water crafts and boating, not so good for long beach walks.

Today had a bad day on the Atlantic beach ... NOT. Have done a two hour walk on the beach this morning, and will do the same in the evenings (and every day) after Margarita time at the RV. A bad day ?

This morning, I discovered that the Bigfoot has been invaded by hundreds of ants, large Florida ants. Must have happened back at Markham Park when I was not looking. How? no matter, today, I have declared war on this ants. I should win.
