While am hanging out in San Diego, my friends above, back home in the Bay Area, embarked last Saturday on a big bike ride to San Francisco and beyond, and back, over 100 miles. On the right is Jeff, Elaine, and Kevin, this was a milestone for Kevin. As reported by Jeff, “ “Dude, did I just ride one-hundred miles? !” Why yes… yes you did Kevin! … Priceless! ...
And there you have it. Ten friends get together, decide to embark on an adventure to a far, far away city… enjoy great company, food and beverage, visit multiple landmarks, endure injury (physical and mechanical). Our total mileage was in excess of 111 miles; (Yeah Kevin!) 11 ½ hours, 8 of which was saddle time. We started at 9:00 a.m. (9:25 a.m. Fowler time) and arrived back in Mountain View at 8:30 p.m. All of which totals: Two flats, a bent derailleur, one BIG ass accident, and a whole lot of fun!
Totally looking forward to the next adventure… hope you can join us! “.
Great going Kevin !. While my friends at home are having loads of fun, and I miss them, don’t think for a minute, that am sitting idle. On the right is the bike route I do here in Mission Bay (San Diego), it is Fiesta Island, 4.1 miles around, and is part of Mission Bay Park where I also speed walk. On any day, there is from 20 to 80 riders training like me. Even though lately have been averaging 17 mph in four laps, am typically the slow one here. When I started a month ago, I was averaging around 13 mph, so am getting some conditioning back. That was the plan.
Furthermore, above, one Saturday eve Rouel make’s friends with young neighbor RV’ers, ... and a good time was had by all.
My time in San Diego is coming to an end quickly, I leave this Friday, and should arrive back “home” in Mountain View on the 2nd or 3rd of Nov. Looking forward to hanging out with long time friends.
