$10,000 Trouts

RV Camping on Lake Isabella. That is dry camping, not me. There are about 3 miles of RV campers around this side of the lake so far. By next weekend there will 1000’s of campers. Next week end there is a fishing derby at the lake. They have tagged a couple trout, and who ever catches one of this gets $10,000.
Am glad am leaving Lake Isabella and into Death Valley next Fri. No fishing nor crowds for me.
This RV resort is a bit peculiar, about 60% of the sites are permanent dwellers, Mobile homes, not RV’s. A school bus stops in front and pick’s up lots of kids. In some counties in Calif an RV resort cannot have permanent dwellers, it must be OK here in Kern Valley. I have the only cemented and largest site at this resort. The pool is still not open, to early in the season am told, though is warm enough, 72 F = 22 C.
Most of the empty RV sites are across from me, they are very small and not level.
Spent a few hours cruising on the scooter. Found nearby a tentative route for cycling. Will ride it tomorrow. While cruising around the lake, did not see much of interest, though this area is suppose to be a mecca for hikers, boaters, water skiers, fishermen, birders, hunters, wind surfers, kayakers, with lots of campgrounds near the lake, and a few rafting outfits. The only thing of interest to me is hiking, though not much shade around. And there is talk of mountain lion sightings that do not appear to be shy of humans. Maybe I will skip hiking.
