After Nearly 2 Months, On My Way Back Home

Friday, February 5, 2010

Many days in the Grand Canyon look like the above photo.

With a little image manipulation, the same photo can be cleaned up to obtain the above clarity.

While at the Grand Canyon Back Country Center, turning in an application for hiking and camping at the bottom in the Grand Canyon, I saw the statistics on the photo at left.

Interesting, after spending 5 days in the Grand Canyon this winter, I saw several hiker groups on most days going down for at least one night of hiking and camping at the bottom. My observation was that about 60% of the hikers in the groups were women, at least during the time that I observed this winter. So, why so many fatalities for men? When I go back in June will have to ask the rangers, why the fatalities are so skewed toward men. Below are more photos of the GC.

For a couple of years, one of my morning daily habits was to go out for a hot chocolate and read the paper usually at a Starbucks. In 2010 have not yet indulged in this habit, so even though it is raining am going to ride the scooter for my Hot chocolate and read the paper.

After nearly 2 months out on the road this winter, am on my way back home. I miss my friends (family), they have been doing stuff without me. Of course, they wish they were doing what I have been doing.

Vickie, Cindy, Sandra, Elaine, and baby Alice.  RETIREMENT IS GOOD !!!
