Life at Lake Cahuilla, La Quinta, CA

Golf Course in the desert. Actually, the Palm Springs area (a desert) has more golf courses than any other area of equal size, as of Feb 2010 there are 125 of them. It seems that most of them are private. Yap, you just can’t go out and play them, unless you happen to live in the community associated with the golf course and pay the hugh one time membership fee. Usually the fee is many, many tens of $K ($100K may not be unusual), and a large monthly fee. Lots of people here live around their private golf course.

This is going to be a boring blog, but am blogging it anyway.

I don’t play golf, but one day will possibly get into it. The above photo was quite a surprise. Yesterday morning went off to do a small hike, five miles. Currently am hanging out at a County Park in La Quinta, Ca. It is called Lake Cahuilla. Next to the County Park is one of those communities described above. I knew they had their own golf course, but ... I went on my hike, these area is a desert, am hiking up the trail to a ledge, go around the corner, and the above scene hits me. Apparently, part of their golf course is set into the canyon am hiking in. The trail am hiking goes around the right side of their golf course.

I did say this area is a desert, but ... some people in the campground brought their own pool.

Cindy’s place in La Quinta CA.

My long time friend Cindy, has a place in one of those golf communities in La Quinta. Her backyard never ceases to amaze me. Yap, a famous golf course, one of the PGA West courses.

The RV Park at Lake Cahuilla, La Quinta CA. This last weekend the park was full. People came from all over the country for apparently a famous 3 day music festival, the Coachella Music and Art Festival, about 75,000 young people. Talked with 3 people that came from Chicago camping at the park, they could not get into the festival because the tickets they bought were fake, they each paid over $400 per ticket from the same internet scammer, ouch.

This weekend coming up there is yet another music festival in the area, called Stagecoach. They are expecting several thousand RVs into the area. This is a country music festival, as such it attracts an older crowd, hence RV’ers. The RV park will again be full beginning on Thur.

I think I will hangout here for a another week or two, as long as the weather is nice.

No, I don’t attend these festivals, in the desert, sitting/standing on the dirt ground, jumping up and down, in the sun, all day from 12:00 pm till 11:00 pm, listening to rock band after band; no, just not me. That is only for the young. I Rather hike and bike.
