Got Sick ... Finally Recovering

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

Never paid much attention to the turning of the leaves here in Calif. But it does happen. This is the front yard of Sandra’s home. Mainly in neighborhoods, in the wild it seems to stay mostly green or just plain dead brown.

Today is Pearl Harbor day, I guess is OK to say it that way. Not many left, that is survivors of 7 Dec 1941 Pearl Harbor’s attack by Japan. So, many of the organizations that were form by and for these survivors are disbanding because there are few survivors, and most can no longer travel to visit the memorials in their honor.

Came home to spend time with friends during our holidays. Went to Thanksgiving dinner at Sandra’s, always a fun day it makes. We were Randy, Chris, Elaine, Robert, Sandra and me.

Went hiking with Sandra and Elaine, then hiked with Sandra and Cindy. Both time I was a wimp. Could not hang with them after 4 miles or so. Could not believe that I was so baldly out of shape. Then got terribly sick with a very nasty cold / flu of the season. Then I understood, my performance hiking. In any case, after nearly two weeks finally recovering. Did a nice hike by myself yesterday. Just checking out trails of old days near home. A grace place for outdoor activities. Will go out to another hike today. Though days here seem very cold, that is probably just me, my body does not seem to like mild low temp. I used to like them once, hmmm. So have been planning getting back to RV living, to warmer places. Have not yet pick the first place to go; but likely take off the first week of January.

2012, will turn 62 in Jun, it will be time to sign-up for Social Security Benefits. I can finally get a senior discount pass to National Parks, and movies, some restaurants, and .....  Better do some research to find out about all those senior citizen discounts. Hope there are lots of them, this could be fun.
