This photos shows why I like hanging out in Bakersfield CA, a bike path and no cars anywhere in sight. The Kern River Parkway (bike path) currently about 75 miles round trip long. Great dessert like scenery. This time of the year the weather is great there, but in the summer is a bit hot for me.

From Bakersfield decided to head back toward a somewhat homeward direction. On the way, passed thru King City, Ca. King City is not much, but it is along one of the entrances to Lake San Antonio. Remember am a tumbleweed, so I had no particular place in mind as to where I was going. So I decided to overnight in King City, you know, waiting for the wind to pickup so I could tumble.

Next day, which way was the wind blowing, toward Lake San Antonio?, toward Pinnacles  National Monument?, toward Monterey?, that is by the beach. First had to fill up the tank, ouch, ouch, $220 later, and the tank was not even full ($4.29 per gal). For the month of Apr that added to  $465 on gas, and we are only roughly half way thru the month. OK, I was compelled to to find a place and stay put till the end of the month.

To Monterey it is, along the way was going by the Laguna Seca Speedway. Hm, always wanted to RV at Laguna Seca, so I pulled in, and to my surprise, the Sea Otter Classic was going on there this week end. What is a Sea Otter Classic ? A major bicycle racing event, road races, cross country (mountain bike) races. This race attracts pro’s, tons of racing club amateurs, and just anyone who want‘s to experience bicycle racing. The racers ranged from around 15 to over 60 yrs old. I should have signed up; maybe next year.

Will stay here at Laguna Seca for 4 days, do some cycling, then will head west about 12 mi to Monterey to be closer to the beach. Will Likely stay in Monterey till the end of the month.

The take off approach. See rider on bottom right.

Fly, and do some trick. This rider throw’ed his left leg backwards.

The Landing approach. Get back on the seat and land without killing your self.
