Cycling the L’Alpe d’Huez Is Unforgettable

Here is Vickie with little Joseph (adopted). Home for 4 month now, and Joseph has adjusted to his new family in excellent shape, like his always being there. He is 2 yrs old.

Alice snacking at the dinner table teaches her little brother stuff.  Later Alice try’s to teach Joseph how to do a head stand.

Well, been back home from Sacramento for 4 weeks. All that great cycling conditioning gained in Sacramento is now practically gone. Was planning on doing lots of riding here, what happened? got sick. Am not suppose to get sick in summer. Anyway a very nasty cold, these cold’s seem worse as I get older and last longer. Hmm.

Cindy gets home this Sunday, and am planning to hit the road with Bigfoot on Monday or Tuesday. Took Bigfoot to the shop today for a much needed service. Oil change, and refrigerator repair. They tell me other things also need service, but that will have to wait till later.

Above the Cheggs, Scott and Joseph, Vickie and Alice take off on bike a ride. Later had to go and pick them up with their van, they had two flats and their pumps did not work. Hate it when the pumps don’t work.

Sandra, below left, hosted our Jun and Jul birth celebration, me in Jun, and Vickie and Sandra’s in Jul. We had a great time as usual. We need to do this gatherings more often. Below are some of the bike buddies celebrating our birthdays; we have done many thousands of cycling miles together in the past 20 years. Though this year we seem to be slowing way, way down. Except for Elaine, she did’nt even slow down last winter, she is putting the rest of us to shame by doing at least 100 miles a week.

Of course we have been tracking Le Tour de France, and today there was the epic ride up L’Alpe d’Huez. Our buddy Don, reminds us by sending us the photo below as we took a rest at the top of the L’Alpe d’Huez a few years ago.

From left to right, Cindy, Bill, Don, Scott, Vickie and me. Cycling the L’Alpe d’Huez is unforgettable.
