The Family Grows ......
Friday, September 2, 2011
A new generation, descendants from Fernandes’s, Aldama’s, Knoppel’s, Arias’s, Irausquin’s, Duong’s, Hoang’s, and others. These are some of my grand nephews and nieces, 5 of 7 grand children of bro Gerardus, aka John in San Diego.
Good grief, as I said in last blog, all my nephews and nieces are adults, The youngest is Cassandra, 17, just had a birthday yesterday, daughter of sis Elsbeth. The oldest is RoseAnn, 44, daughter of sis Dorothy.
Been here in Surprise Az since last Monday. Left San Diego after about 2 weeks at bro John’s. Got to see lots of family there. Nephews Johannes, Alexander, nieces, Rose, Angela and Claris and their kids above. Then dropped in at sis Elsbeth in Burbank, again, lets call it LA for a 3 days. In LA also got to see lots relatives. There my niece Jane got married last Sunday. Regretfully, did not get to say bye, as the happy couple were nowhere to be found before I left. For Family in LA got to see: Sis Elsbeth, and Shirley who came for her daughter Jane’s wedding. Nephews Peter, Martin, nieces, Cassandra, Claudette, Clara, and grand niece Rebecca daughter of niece Clara, grand niece Magdalena daughter of Claudette.

While in San Diego, went to visit my godson Andrew Griffin. He too is all grown up. Graduated from high school, and started college.
In San Diego, also tried stand up paddle boarding. Not so easy, it took me about an hour to be able to stand up and paddle without falling every 5 sec. This could be a fun thing to get into. Bro John has an inflatable board, though I think it was a bit small for my wait. I could take one with me in Bigfoot to use in Lakes. I am told that to use in open ocean is very hard but can be learned. Do I have time ? let me think, ... Yep.
My friend Sandra offered me their family place in Surprise Az to hang out since no one is staying there. The place is in an adult community. It has a great large pool. Nice workout room, and all around friendly and spotless community. I have stayed here before, see blogs from January 19th & 24th, 2010. Yes, like me they are all retired, though currently I would guess that 70% of the people are not here yet. The season to be here in Az is from Nov thru Apr. Why ? Today is the first day in the last 34 days that the temp did not go over 110 deg, it is only 105, of course everyone is commenting what a nice day we have.
My body is pretty sore today, started working out twice a day, trying to loose 20 pounds in the next 60 days. My arms have gotten weak and puny, so will get in shape and build the body up a bit.
