Bike With My Girls
Wednesday, January 18, 2012
It had been a long, long time since I had done a bike ride with my girls, Sandra, Cindy, Elaine, and Vickie. That is good way to start the year. Riding on old familiar routes, that is also good, lots of good memories.
Nearly 3 weeks into the new year, so what is new ? Nothing much at all. Been working on the RV. Just like a home, it needs Tender Loving Care (TLC), maintenance and more maintenance. Fortunately nothing mechanical, but water leaks.
A water leak around a roof vent, shows that all the roof vents needed resealing, done that. Then, everyday I would see a puddle of water next to the RV, decided to investigate, and sure enough I found a water leak inside underneath the kitchen sink by the water heater. That took hours to fix, and a big $2.00 plastic nipple. RV repair shops typically charge about $100/hr, so I figure probably saved my self about $200 for that water leak.
Two weeks ago I clipped a tree branch in front of Cindy’s house, that caused some damage high at the roof edge of the RV. To fix the fiberglass surface damage they want about $900. I had a cheap fix done whereby covering the damage with a rubber compound, and had the them also cover up some micro cracks on the roof gelcoat. 2 hours of work and $300 out of my pocket. I have decided that after the rains, I will spend sometime and learn to do a permanent fix to the damaged gelcoat from the tree encounter. Repairing the fiberglass and gelcoat cover does not seem to be difficult. Looked it up, how to, on YouTube. Then I will spend a couple of days washing, waxing and polishing the RV. The RV should then be ready for travel.
Apple Computers, which maintains the servers where I publish this blog and my photo gallery will stop providing these services come June 2012. So now will have to spend some time to find a reasonable replacement. Maybe by next blog. That is all, folks.
