I Guess We All Have Some Regrets ....

Today is kind of special, it is baby bro Frans’s Birthday, Happy Birthday, old one. I see you are practicing taking naps. Enjoy.
Pretty much we all agree that our current world is a bit missed up (though I think from a human history perspective, something has always been missed up). And each of us can come up with reasons that others have not thought of. One of mine, is Paralympics. Somehow, this summer they came and went, and not a pip in the news or TV. That is a sad state of what is considered important by our news media, and possibly us for not demanding more of what we care for. And allow someone else decide for us. Let’s not do that next month, cast your vote.
The video above, is not about the Paralympics, but watch these people play, would it not it been fun to have watched the London Paralympics Aug 29th - Sep 8, 2012. If you saw even a part of it good for you. Me, I missed it all.
I got to start blogging once a week again. So much to say and not enough time in one blog. In younger days working on my physics education, I remember wondering, “if the universe is infinite, therefore there are an infinite numbers of stars in the universe, so why is the night sky dark? it should bright as day from all the stars”. That was almost 40 yrs ago. The little video on the right explained it for me. So you don’t have to wait 40 yrs to hear the explanation. Hopefully you can understand, even if it is just a little bit.
Here is one of my big regrets, before I retired I had decided (as part of my retirement plan) that I would go watch a Shuttle launch. I always thought I would have time. And that should teach me, and all of us, don’t put off things till tomorrow, one way or another you may not have enough time. So, when I found out that the Shuttle Endeavor, piggy backed on a 747, would do a fly-by my “urban RV’ing” location. I planned to go see it.
Rode my bike to Moffet Field at NASA Aimes, just 3 miles from my RV. And with about 5000 other people we waited for the much advertised fly-by. There were NASA VIPs and astronauts giving pre-fly-by talks to mark the event, and there was news media. To keep it short, when the moment arrived, the chase jet plane flew low over the runway. Passed by us, we waited for the 747 and Shuttle, looking down the run way. Where is it ? after many seconds, we heard it, it was behind us, the pilot missed the runway by a 1/3 of mile, it came out from behind a very tall structure, and here is my 19 sec Endeavor Shuttle movie. I wont say anything bad about NASA (the pilot), but thought it.
Blogs should be short, so more later.
