“Used To Do That”, ... Go Back And Do Some Of Them.

Sunrise out of my window where am currently urban RV’ing, the day before the time change. For days have been having this awesome sunrises, so decided to capture one.
Remember my last blog, “Get Up. Get Out. Don’t Sit.” Well, have been practicing just that. Went on a bike ride with my “babes”, Sandra and Cindy, and Thomas too, as usual am off the back, working hard to keep up. Am so out of shape for cycling, got to fix that for next season, I should plan to go back to doing 5000 mi in the next season. Will see how close to that I can get.
Went on a hike just by myself, have not done that in ages, 8.8 miles, at Rancho San Antonio, see photo below. Used to do that 2 or 3 times a week. There have been many “used to do that”. So am going back to doing some of them, had forgotten how much fun they were.
Spent many years running the trails you see above, and many others here at Rancho San Antonio. Just about 9 miles from my RV’ing location.
The photo of the sunrise above, is looking out into the Baylands (San Francisco Bay), and that is were I have been going out walking at least once a day, sometimes twice, early in the morning, and in the evening. To bad the phone camera is not good for capturing shots of the moonrise, a couple days ago, on one of my eve walks where am RV’ing, the full moon rise over the water and the mountains was spectacular. Did take a shot or two but the high resolution phone camera just can’t capture low light settings.
The following really tick’s me off:
Have spent time reading about what is happening to our education infrastructure. Here in California, in the 70’s, when I went to college at CSULA (California State University, Los Angeles) tuition was $55 a quarter, adding up to about $200 a year (for 3 quarters) when including library card fees and other incidentals. 35 years later, today, it is $6869 per year, that is 34 times higher.
So back in the 70’s if you were poor or middle class, there was an infrastructure that allowed you to go to college on your own without taking out a loan if you worked part time, that is what I did, and some of my older siblings. And thereby do perhaps as good if not better than our parents. That is, you could grow-up to be middle class or mid to upper mid-class $ wise. Since in that time salaries have not gone by a factor 34, more like a factor of 6 or so to retirement, at least for my case (with a master in physics), then today a poor or middle class high school grad is in terrible trouble on the road in life to hang on to be at least as financially capable as their parents. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MONEY TO SUPPORT THE LOW COST EDUCATION INFRASTRUCTURE ??? Where has the $s been siphon off to ?? Do you know ? can you guess ?
Perhaps it is or will get better, hopefully because the moneys has been siphon off, we may be in a transition or revolution in our education infrastructure. It seems that in some circles the word revolution is not quite right, the new word is “disruption”. I have been hearing it for years, if you want, read this article. Then you can also read this article. And if you are a parent, or student or teacher you may be interested in the following websites:
