... Yesterday Seems Along Time Ago, but 30 Years Ago Seems LIke Yesterday.

It is always a most excellent day when I get to hang out with my babes, off on a hike in the new year, and we do a lot of them.
Well into the new year, New Year’s seems along time ago, or am I getting old and yesterday seems along time ago, but 30 yrs ago seems like yesterday. Anyhow, today is a good day. Why you ask ? because I declare that today ... is a good day for me. I recommend it, you declare a good day for you, and like it all day long. But we can always rationalize it so, we humans are great rationalizers. For example, I could say because I recognize more recent successes than failures.
I have spent the last 3 months trying to teach / training my brain and body to sleep more. Since high school days, I had been a 5 to 5.5 hr sleeper, and in the last 20 yrs has decreased to 4 to 4.5 hrs per day. Normal going to sleep time 1:30 am, wakeup time between 5:30 and 6 am. Obviously one would try to get to sleep earlier, go to sleep at 10:00 pm, I wake up at around 2:30 to 3 am. a couple of time went to sleep at 8 pm, yep, I woke around midnight and that is it. No I don't take sleeping meds, but I will ask my doc at my next appointment sometime near the summer. Just wanted to try sleeping longer, but the brain and the body don’t seem to need it. No one will ever claim “Rouel” of being tired, tiring maybe but never tired. That is the way it is !! That is a failure, not bad though.
For successes: Finally finished a spreadsheet that calculates stuff from the sensors in the iPhone, such as the accelerometer, gyrometers, and magnetometers. Just some physic’s concepts implementation, just what an old retired physicist would spent time on. I mean lots of time, 60 to 75 hrs a week for the last month. Regretfully, most of the time spent trying to fix why the algorithm was not working properly. To keep this short, yep it is fixed, and now will publish it on the web so that someone out there who might want to use their iPhone for some science can do so, without having to figure out how to integrate the gyro data with accelerometer data to obtain desirable results.
Another success, have lost 29 lbs in the last 3 months. I don’t make new year’s resolutions, but I do make resolutions throughout the year. And I try to make them relatively small one’s, for quick implementation. I figure it is better to have lots of little peanuts than one big one. And if you fail at something small, no big deal, try again. LIfe is a plan, plan to do, and do the plan. .... seeee yaaaa later.
