This blog is for those now more advance in age, but not old: Long time back, for about a decade, on a yearly basis used to do what I called “Self Grooming”, and did it in the Fall. So what is “Self Grooming” ? It was taking time to do some introspection based on two questions:
1)What do I have that I don't want ?
2)What do I want that I don't have ?
I don't mean material stuff, but it could be. It was usually about personal traits, habits, behaviors, work things/stuff, objectives, things that define how I saw and felt about myself. It was about the pursuit of “Happiness”, and keeping life with I high fun factor. Somehow have stopped doing it, but It formed the basis for a retirement plan that I created and have been living it for the past 6 yrs.
I say to you, “Don't Be That 10,000 lb. Elephant”. I think that when a baby elephant is being domesticated, they may put a chain on one of its legs, and the other end of the chain is pegged to the ground. The chain and the peg are strong enough to keep the baby elephant constrained, as it may seek to explore the world further than the chain would allow. Eventually it gives up pulling on the chain and peg. A couple decades later, that elephant is 10,000 lb. and is much stronger, but it may still have that chain and peg constraining it from experiencing the world far from from the reach of the chain. It does not try to pull on the chain because that is what it has always done. The now 10,000 lb. elephant does not realize that now its much stronger, and that, that chain and peg, it could easily break and/or pull out the peg. “Don't Be That 10,000 lb. Elephant”. You now have new strength, new abilities, and wisdom. “Don't Be That 10,000 Lb. Elephant”. Do some “Self Grooming”, pull on those chains form the past, break the chains and put more fun factor in your world. I will do some “Self Grooming” in the next few weeks, are you ?
