The Mind Is Willing, But The Body Just Can’t !!

On Jun 3rd, my girls took me out for my 1st birthday in Jun, steak dinner at the Outback. Today is my 2nd birthday in Jun, and am going to take my self out to dinner. You guessed, to the Outback for another steak dinner. In fact, I celebrate my birthday once a month, Why ? because I like it !! I figure have celebrated about 120 birthday, someday will have celebrated more birthdays than anyone else in the world.
Not much happening lately, basically staying put. Taxes wiped out my savings account, so am building that up to a comfortable level before hitting the road. Therefore, My original plan to head to the east coast is scraped. Think I will keep RV’ing to California, probably hitting the road in late Aug or after Labor Day. There are two National Parks nearby (within 4 hrs drive) that I have not visited as part of my retirement plan.
Again with some politics, you have heard the concept “disruption” used around in the context of things being changed. I know, am back on my soapbox on education, friends recently told me, their 1st child cost them about $1000 a month for pre-school, two yrs later, the 2nd child cost $1400 per month. Ouch I thought, at the other end, we know that college cost is off the roof, the college where I got my bachelor’s and master’s, today cost 40 times higher than what I paid some 30 yrs ago. Now in the middle of this is elementary, middle school, and high school all currently mostly free. But “public funds” are being funneled into “private funds”, meaning the monies that is currently available for this “free” education is soon not going to be there. Yep, parents will also have to pay for this education directly out of pocket. It is called disruption of our education system. Things are being monetized for profit, hence “private funds”. A court here in California, early this week rejects teacher tenure and that it violates children's civil rights. There are “Charter Schools” and technology stuff all part of this disruption. This stuff bugs me, !!! OK, I will stop here with this.
Have noticed that my biceps are getting puny, so back to the gym for building upper body muscle, 3 time a week, and back to cycling for aerobic capacity, 2 to 3 times a week. Oh yeah, did I mention my knees don't like speed walking anymore, happened kind of fast. They, my knees have been getting worst this past year. Still go out for walks on most days, but no speed walks. I guess I walk kind of like an old man, sometimes I catch myself doing that walk, so I tell my self “straighten out and walk like a young man”. It works for a while, but my friends have noticed me walking with a limp like. Guess is time to let the doctors see about it. Have doctors appointment in early Aug, will see what they say. Is mean when the mind is willing and the body just plain can’t, they call it getting old, and it just don’t feel right.
Off to celebrate my 2nd birthday today I go, see yaa later !!
